November 2025

I’m very excited to be working with Amy Hillis and the Regina Symphony on an orchestration of Florence Price’s Fantasie no. 1 The concert will happen in November at Darke Hall.

 

The Orchestre Classique de Montréal has invited me to arrange my two tangos, "Insidia" and "Sola," for their concert on November 20th in Montréal. I'm really excited to be part of this concert, which will feature Adam Cicchillitti on the guitar and Denis Plante on the bandoneon. I hope to see you there.​

I am delighted to be working with Mark McGregor and Adrian Verdejo, who have commissioned me to write my latest work for flute and guitar, which will be premiered in November in Vancouver. It’s going to be a really fun piece about Mexican candies and treats, and it will be recorded for an upcoming album, so stay tuned for more updates.

September 2025​​

I’m happy to announce that I’ve accepted a position as a full-time professor of music theory at Brandon University, my alma mater, and I’ll be teaching six courses over the next year. I’m very excited to give back to the university that gave me so much.​

I’m collaborating with my wonderful friends from the Sundog Ensemble, on a fun, exciting project, creating compositions that explore the idea of "home" with a mix of fixed score and improvisation. Stay tuned!

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll have my first performance with my partner, Marika Galea, at the Canadian Music Centre in Toronto on July 11th, where we’ll explore the intersection of our musical worlds in an improvisatory setting.

June 2025​

I’m truly honoured to be part of an incredible cast of musicians for the program "The Two Deaths of Ophelia" by The Happenstancers, which reimagines Shakespeare’s Ophelia to address love, death, passion. The Happenstancers commissioned my latest work, Drawn, for flute, oboe, clarinet, violin, viola, and cello, where I reinterpret the story of Ophelia through a modern lens reflecting our struggles with the attention economy.

May 2025​

It was a delight to be invited to the Contemporary Music Initiative, where young, engaging performers performed my string quartet, Nanotrek no. 1. I’m looking forward to future collaborations with Sophie and River.

I was honoured to be included as part of the tribute concert for Jocelyn Morlock by the Société de Musique Contemporaine du Québec. I am extremely grateful that Trio Kalysta performed my piece Volador written specifically for them.​

​

The wonderful Ezra Duo once again performed my piece for viola and piano, Azure, giving its U.S. premiere at the East Coast Chamber Music Festival in Florida. Check them out if you haven’t - they’re great.

April 2025​

I was delighted to be commissioned for the first time by the Brandon Chamber Players, and I had the opportunity to conduct the entire concert, premiering my latest string orchestra work, The Mechanics of Bloom, which explores the hidden math and mechanisms of seasonal change and nature’s patterns. March 2025​

Duo Concertante continues to perform my piece Iridescence, across Canada. Now, onto the East Coast, where they will be performing in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

February 2025​

I’m incredibly grateful to the Canada Arts Council for funding my commission for the McGregor-Verdejo duo, and the Ontario Arts Council for funding my commission for The Happenstancers.

January 2025​

Duo Concertante has been touring across Canada, performing my piece, Iridescence, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. Please check them out if you can—they’re an amazing duo.

I had a fascinating conversation with Janna Sailor for the Canadian Music Centre Prairie Region Podcast titled "Musing", where we discussed my orchestral works, my heritage, and my compositional process. Please check it out and share!

The Canadian Composers Orchestra kindly recorded an arrangement of my tango, Insidia, with amazing production quality, performed by Michael Murphy, Hoi Tong Keung, Bevis Ng, and Andrew Rasmus. The result is a stunning piece of cinematography. Please check out their video here.

I’m deeply grateful that the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and Dinuk Wijeratne programmed my piece, Chido, performed in the gorgeous Winspear Centre in Edmonton. It was recorded, and a video will be available soon - stay tuned.​

I am so excited to share that my piece for viola and piano, Azure, received the first prize at the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto Emerging Canadian Composers Competition! You can listen to the performance of the amazing Ezra Duo here.

My friends and colleagues, Catherine Wood and Victoria Sparks, performed a set of my tangos for their clarinet and marimba duo, Viðarneistí, in Salerno, Italy.​

​October 2024​

Duo Concertante is touring across Canada, and my piece Iridescence will be part of their program. They are such wonderful musicians and people and I am delighted that my music will be heard in Ontario, Newfoundland, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, and British Columbia.

​

My piece, Prompt, for two saxophones, was selected and performed at the Prisms Music Festival at Arizona State University. It was an incredible performance by Siobhan Plouffe and Uday Singh.

​

I was deeply moved and honoured that the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de México chose to program my piece, Picante, performed by the great Ludwig Carrasco at the prestigious Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. This was my debut as a composer in my home country of Mexico, and the performance was truly unforgettable. I am profoundly grateful for the overwhelming support. Thank you to everyone who joined and shared in this special moment.

August 2024​

Duo Concertante, the talented duo of Nancy Dahn and Tim Steeves, commissioned my piece Iridescence, which premiered at the Tuckamore Festival in St. John's, Newfoundland. I thoroughly enjoyed composing this work, and I’m excited that they will tour it across Canada in the coming months.
